Migration and Recruitment

Canadian Permanent Residency

Provincial Nominee Program

The PNP allows Canadian provinces to nominate skilled workers, graduates, and entrepreneurs for permanent residence based on local labour needs. It’s a faster, targeted pathway to immigrate and settle in a specific province.

Provincial Nominee Program

PNP programs are another option to immigrate to Canada, especially if you do not have enough points to be selected under Express Entry, or are not eligible for any other federal immigration category. Most provinces have skilled worker, international graduate and investor programs.

Here are some of the general requirements in each type of program:

1. SKILLED WORKER

2. INVESTOR

3. INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE

Provinces with PNP programs each have their own selection criteria to find immigrants with skills that the province needs which they cannot hire locally. The selection criteria and occupations vary across provinces, from information technology, medicine, agriculture, trades, business, investors, and people who have ties to Canada.

Primarily immediate family of a South African citizen or PR holder—typically first‑degree kinship (parents/children). Some practitioners argue broader “second‑step” kinship may be possible depending on mission interpretation; we’ll assess your facts and the mission’s practice before filing.

It is commonly issued for up to 2 years at a time and can be renewed on continued eligibility (relationship and financial assurance remain in place).

No automatic rights. The Relative’s Visa generally does not confer work or study privileges. If you intend to work or study, you must apply for the appropriate work or study visa (or change status where permitted).

The SA spouse/relative must show monthly financial assurance per person at the level set by Gazette, proved via recent payslip or certified bank statements. (Practitioners often use R8,500 p/m as a practical benchmark; the current Gazette/mission level governs.)
